FREMONT, CA: RTI, a leading manufacturer of control and automation, has recently revealed that it will transmit 4K UHD video over a 1GB network switch with a new Video over IP (VIP) platform. This highly scalable device can be implemented in minutes in a quasi-endpoint size and natively controlled in the RTI control environment. The framework is quickly viewed by the user on an RTI touch panel, a remote computer, or on a handheld device with a demo recording.
“Our new VIP platform allows integrators to take advantage of existing network infrastructure to cost-effectively distribute crystal-clear video to displays across installations of any size,” said Neal Ellsworth, Director of AV Product Management, RTI. “We’ve designed it so that integrators can deliver the benefits of Video over IP without the need for a deep understanding of networking or the need to manually assign IP addresses. It’s fully integrated into the RTI Integration Designer APEX programming and configuration platform, so all endpoints auto-discover and configure. This saves time on every installation.”
The VIP-UHD-CTRL control module, a wizard-based interface for fast and automatic device configuration that blends streaming APEX interface with IR, RS-232, or TCP/IP controls, is the core element of the RTI IP Video network. Advanced signal processing offers IR, RS-232, USB/KVM, audio, and video routing individually. Two RJ45 LAN links link the primary and VIP networks for increasing efficiency to prevent the need for a VLAN. The video wall feature allows numerous displays to be easily combated with 16×16 video walls.
“Where the Video over IP line really shines is in the user experience,” continued Ellsworth. “The video preview images on the touchpanel, remote, or mobile device put the user in full control of what is playing where in the system from the same interface they use to manage the rest of the home or business.”
The VIP-UHD-TX transmitting and VIP-UHD-RX receiver offer an excellent video output, which uses visually lossless compression technology to produce signals of up to 328 feet/100 meters with a 60 Hz refresher rating and 4K resolution support. HDCP 2.2 compliance with improved EDID handling removes copy-protected black screens while connecting HDMI sources. Simultaneously, built-in scaling allows the maximum resolution of any screen in the network to be viewed instead of restricting it to lower legacy displays. The transmitter, the recipient, and all established HDMI audio formats, including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS-HD Master Audio transmission, provide an analog audio embedding and breakout.
The VIP-UHD-CTRL, VIP-UHD-TX, and VIP-UHD-RX can be driven by Power over Ethernet (PoE) to reduce cable clutter. Concurrently, up to four transmitters or receivers can be placed using the 2RU RM-4VIP2 rack-mount adaptor shelf, which involves all necessary mounting hardware.
